| I got a copy of Franken's new book from my DH as a present |
|
And when I opened it to start reading, I found several pages torn.
I called Barnes and Noble and the clerk I talked to said that this had happened to a lot of the copies of the book and others. Somehow, I can imagine some little freeper jerk standing in the bookstore ripping pages in every copy.
We did our Christmas here yesterday.....going to the in-laws today. I've taped my pages back together so I can read the book on the long drive.
I just don't get people sometimes. I mean, really, I disagree with Ann Coulter, but I'd never vandalize a book, even if I disagree with everything inside!

| 1. Yes, but you aren't a fascist |

Just like Hitler's thugs, violent censorship is acceptable in the christo-fascist mind.

| 2. It's a step up from just burning them. |

It's even a Jewish author. You'd think people might be sensitive to THAT at least, but no one pays attention to history anymore.

| 5. I think burning them in a bookstore would cause too big of an uproar! |
|
They don't want to BUY the book....heck, I am often surprised that some of these people can walk upright, much less read!
My DH was horrified at the whole thing. They really are facists...how frightening.

| 3. Wouldn't you be able to get the book exchanged? |
|
I think that if a bookseller can't protect the merchandise from vandalism, that they should have to bear the costs for it, and not the customer.

| 4. Actually, I'm keeping the book..... |
|
I taped the pages and I'm keeping it as a reminder of how childish and small-minded those people are.
I mean, really, going into a bookstore and ripping copies of books you don't agree with?
Next time I wonder how these people can be the way they are, how they can be so small and petty, I'll look at the taped pages and realize just how fearful of any opinion that isn't their own they really are.
I'm almost starting to feel sorry for them. Almost.
