| There is only 1 thing that could make me think twice about voting in 2008 |
|
and it has nothing to do with who gets the nod to be our Democratic candidate. I plan on supporting whoever runs on the Democratic ticket.
However, the one thing that would cause me to re-think everything would be if no impeachment attempt is made on Bush by our party.
Win or lose, Bush must have Articles of Impeachment thrown at him in early 2007. If we win the House, he needs to be impeached soon after the elections. If we don't win the House, we still need to charge him with crimes and at least make an impeachment try.
They were talking this morning on CNN how it's now in all the history books in schools how Clinton was impeached. It really burned me up, knowing that the right wing is so proud of how this will forever be part of Clinton's legacy...that they impeached this fine president over a personal incident that hurt no one. The right wing got us good, didn't they.
It's time for some payback. We need to pull out all the plugs in early 2007. If no impeachment attempt is made on Bush, a part of my political soul will be gone forever.
We've labored hard for our Party. We've stuffed envelopes, made phone calls, put up signs in rain or shine, drummed up support for our candidates, pounded away at our keyboards getting the good message out, donated our hard-earned money....we've done everything possible that we can do.
The time is coming shortly for the Democratic Party to return us the favor. We've worked so hard for them, and they better not let us down on this one.
If our party owes us anything, they owe us a Bush impeachment attempt.

In 2006, no matter who is on the ballot, the democrats get my vote straight party line.
2008 is entirely up to Impeachment.

If only I had thought of those words for my thread title, Walt. You summed it up in 6 words perfectly.

We dont have the clout right now to bring impeachment charges on capital hill. we need to take back congress and the only way we can do that is to VOTE and win a clear majority in both the House and Senate. Then we can bring the charges.
Right now, we all know the repubs wont bring impeachment chanrges. Its Up To Us and we need to win in November. Thats why every vote is needed.
WE MUST VOTE. WE MUST NOT BE DETERRED BY ANYTHING.

Read the post again, this time the entire post. I'm talking about AFTER the 2006 elections. If we gain the clout we can impeach, and we must. If we DON'T gain the clout, WE MUST MAKE AN IMPEACHMENT ATTEMPT ANYWAY!!! You do not need to have a majority in the House to bring up Articles of Impeachment.

I was about to put you in the "we should go down in flames and demand impeachment even if it we don't stand a snowball's chance in hell" category. If you're assuming that we win the Congress in 2006, I'm with you. Under those circumstances, we must bring articles of impeachment and take them as far as we can.
I think trying impeachment now, when we're the minority, is a lose/lose proposition. What if we try and get shot down by the Repugs? Then, we win in 2006 and try again. We'd look like spoiled children who didn't get what we wanted the first time and are now stamping our collective foot.
We must win in 2006 and then move to hearings. Impeachment hearings for * and all sorts of other hearings about (not a complete list): voting reform, Tom Delay/Abramoff/et al., war profiteering, DSM, pre-war intelligence, * complicity in 9/11 (even if it's only incompetence).

Our party has to impeach once we have the majority, or at least make the attempt to impeach even if we don't have the majority. Let's just hope it's the first way. This needs to take place in 2007.
Also, see TallahasseeGrannie's post.

| 9. tHE hOUSE HAS TO VOTE THE ARTICLES OF IMPEACHMENT. |
|
How far would that get without our having a majority to vote AYE?
And if we try, without having a majority, and lose, we look stupid in the eyes of voters. We cannot afford that.
You wait for the time to be right and that means....we hold the majority and all committee chairmanships. They we move. Not before.

And voting for "Anybody But Bush" gives us representatives who have to represent nothing and no one.
I'll not be casting a vote for anyone who hasn't earned my support.

As far as I am concerned, winning doesn't count if you have have to compromise so much. As for impeachment, there is NO excuse not to do it, at the very latest after the 2006 elections...The american people have made it clear.

| 12. I'm not comfortable with references to Chimpeachment as political revenge |
|
Edited on Tue Dec-27-05 12:23 PM by AntiCoup2K4
The right wing assault on Clinton was political revenge. They spent 8 years and some $50 million taxpayer money trying to dig up something on him, and in the end, a blow job was all they had.
My motives for Chimpeachment don't have one goddamned thing to do with partisan revenge for what they did to Clinton. I want the bastard impeached because he's the most vile, criminal, fucking piece of shit to ever occupy the Oval Office, and he hasn't been there legally even one day.
The bastard has lied to the American people, not about a blow job, but about imaginary threats to our safety and weapons of war that did not exist, in a country that his Fraudministration (packed with foreign agents of the Likud party) had a pre-existing published agenda to invade. And that's just Iraq. I could expand on anything else from 9-11 to Katrina, but it would be more of the same.
He is a liar, a murderer, and a traitor. And that's not the Democrat in me saying so, it's merely the facts of the case.
And we'll get rid of the motherfucker a lot sooner if some Republicans wake up and realize the same thing. That's exactly why it cannot ever be labeled as "partisan revenge".

and revenge is only a bonus that comes with it. As far as what we actually impeach him on, we can pretty much take our pick. Never before has there been a case where a president could get impeached for such a variety of reasons.

|
There's really no alternative. You're going to vote Democratic regardless if they bring Articles of Impeachment against Bush.
Why? Because voting for a third party will splinter the votes. You're stuck with our two-party system.

If we don't bring forth the articles to impeach him sometime in 2007, I won't be "stuck with our two-party system" because that will mean the end of the two-party system as we used to know it. It'll be a system of one party and one push-over. Hopefully, our leaders will come through, but if they don't try, then what's that tell you about our party? Until that time comes, however, the Democrats will continue to have my support as always.

There is only one way to get the neocons out of power and that is to vote in elections. 2006, 2008 and get all your friends and neighbours to do the same. An impeachment wouldn't do anything. The Repukes would just have a new brand to walk out for a few years.
