The "Soldiers who were mutilated" were traveling in regular cars and there

were 4 in the car but only the two in the front seat were shot and pulled out. They were traveling in a "convoy" according to Baghdad CNN reporter. I think her name is Jane Assad?

Blitzer was talking with her and this afternoon and a former general had said the soldiers shouldn't have been traveling alone that they always have "backups." Blitzer asked her if the soldiers were alone, and she gave the report that they were part of a convoy with the other info I listed above. She was trying to add more info and all of a sudden her feed was cut and Blitzer apologized for losing her.

I thought this was pretty significant, if she heard they weren't alone and were traveling in a car rather than a "humvee."

Did anyone else here anymore about this later in the day? I've been out all afternoon and haven't been able to watch CNN. Maybe her reports were not correct, but her feed was good and then it was just like someone "pushed a button" and cut her off.

2. Lots of conflicting info about this incident

I'd bet that we will never get the full story. It has been said that the two were alone and in civilian clothing and that they were attacked while stuck in traffic. The Yahoo story (which I think came from Reuters) said they were shot first and then pulled out and beaten by teenagers. Some reports said their throats were cut, and that they laid in the street for hours before any American soldiers came to secure the area and take away the bodies. Now this story says they were part of a convoy. The pictures, as best I can tell, show that they were in uniform.

This just doesn't make sense. I feel for the families who must certainly want answers to what happened and why it happened. They are unlikely to get any.

3. It's definitely a civilian vehicle.

I looked at the pictures on FR. It's a white SUV with the doors in the back that open out. I agree that they looked to be wearing uniforms.

and it seems that after the one vehicle crashed, the other two vehicles fled for their lives. Here is the story:

A formal statement said the two men from the 101st Airborne Division which patrols Mosul were killed just past noon (0900 GMT) in the western part of the city centre.

Witnesses said they saw gunmen open fire with Kalashnikov assault rifles on a three-vehicle convoy, causing one to crash.

Witnesses said the other two vehicles had continued on their way, allowing the assailants to approach the stricken soldiers and remove their helmets and flak jackets.

They said the attackers then slit the soldiers' throats.

6. One yahoo story quoted an Iraqi teenager who had been at the scene

as saying that both soldiers had taken shots in the neck before being pulled from the vehichle.

One had an exit hole in the top back area of his helmet. It's very doubtful that soldier was still alive or had any degree of conciousness.

They were both smashed about the head and face with concrete blocks.

It's horrendous.

Everyday this goes on. I come here and don't know whether I'm reading a thread from last week or tomorrow. It is so casually mentioned by the bouncing heads striking their grim but souless poses for a number and dumber America....three more soldiers were killed in Iraq today when the vehicle they were traveling in hit a land mine, was struck by a rocket, fell into the Tigress, was caught in an ambush....ambush....bush. Shit.

How do I know what they are talking about? Go into the streets, does anyone bring up the topic? Why not? Because it is all becoming a blurr. Even if I could believe in hell, it just doesn't seem like punishment enough for all of the regime-kings and queens, the media whores, and their the sold out masses.

10. This story is VERY bad.

Its not surprising that it warranted only a tiny blurb in my local paper. We certainly don't want the public to see how chaotic things are and what a mess our regime has made of EVERYTHING since they've been installed in office. Not a word about what they did over in England either.

He's taking every gun he can find in Iraq! Baghdad Bush promised the world they'd be dancin' in the streets when the people of Iraq were "LIBERATED"! The only dancin' I'm seeing on the news is the "Hot Lead Hop"!

Bush has yet to EVER admit he was wrong about anything, but the proof is in the puddin'! We should have stayed the HELL out of Iraq and let the UN handle Saddam, but then we could not have taken the pipelines and billion dollar contracts for Bush's Campaign Donors! Bush beat the war drums to win the 2002 elections and dominate all three branches of the government!

IMHO The war in Iraq was a man made Bushco Trifecta and 9/11 might have been one as well! People who do the right things don't hide the facts like Bush does! Anything Bush does he does for Bush, in the end!
