Am I the only person here who remembers contested primaries in the past? Candiates compete against each other. They fight. They argue. They call each other mean names. It's politics.

Come, kiddies. Sit on Uncle Stevie's lap for story time. Once upon a time, there were two candidates for president. One had a whacky idea to cut taxes in order to increase revenue. The other candidate thought that idea was so whacky he gave it a whacky name. That name was "voodoo economics." That made the first candidate very very angry.

The first candidate was so angry that he later asked the second candidate to be his vice president and together they beat the incumbent like a red-headed stepchild. Later that second candidate became president after he had to put up with a rather nasty primary. He was later beaten by someone who was made to look like a Springer Show guest during the primary.

approach towards the goal of success. Unite in a competitive way beyond that of whats going on now. Find a way to put ourselves with better odds.

It seems to me that the candidates can hardly "unite" to defeat Bush until there is, in fact, a nominee. While I wish the candidates could remain civil to each other -- most are not too negative. The trash talking animus is among vocal supporters. Many of whom spend a good deal of time online and nothing succeeds in discussion boards, chats, etc. like excess.

It would be nice if we could argue for and against the candidates without vitriol -- I learn something all the time from the more reasoned give and take. I support a candidate, after a lengthy analysis of the options but I'm not one of those my guy (or gal) is a savior and the opponents are demons types.
