| Will Clear Channel crush "Coward" Dean all by themselves? |
|
Don't worry about El Rushbo or the other hate radio people, it will be the D.J.'s who will deliver the coup de grace. They're already experimenting with memes here in Atlanta. One morning show jock had Bin Laden endorsing Dean. Another on 96rock was saying Bush would carry 49 states against Dean. These people were ruthless and effective against Cynthia McKinney and Dean is at least as vulnerable. Once the general election campaign starts, Dean, Vermont and Dean's supporters will be ridiculed into out of the mainstream laughing stocks.

| 2. but of course they'll do that to whoever the Dem nominee is |
|
you do realize that right?
The conservatives cannot win an election that is fought fairly and in which all sides' views are openly discussed and debated.
The fact that they are relying on this kind of fascist strategy speaks volumes about the fact that they themselves are VERY insecure, and they know that they cannot win a free and fair election.
The last thing the Dems should do is cower before the prospect of Clear Channel jocks bashing them. This will happen even if the dems nominated a total Bush clone.
Dems can only win if the FIGHT BACK, are not afraid of going on the offensive against the right wing extremists who control the GOP and all their media allies.

and Vermont's image in the rest of the nation. It's far harder to do this to Clark or Kerry.

And howard Dean can be "rationally" called a coward or a communist by implication. Riiiight.
If you think people would reach that far to make such baseless allegations, then surely you are prepared for the easier to stick:
Kerry = flaming liberal and gun confiscator.
Clark = fired general and coporate lobbyist.

When was Dean nominated? How did that happen when no one has cast a single vote yet?
Thank you for making democracy and voting irrelevant. :grr:

Not dissing those that voted for it, because they were voting to give Bush more negotiating strength to search for the WMD. How were they to know that Bush would disregard the will of the American people and the UN to steal Iraqi resources and get us into a quagmire of his own making?
Dean was simply giving Bush some good advice...he wasn't smart enough to take it.

No matter who the Democrats finally nominate, there will be smears and misstatements by Clear Channel and other right wingers. In fact, you can expect some very nasty times ahead. What it will be important for us to do is have facts at hand so that we can talk to people who are not right wingers. That's one reason I try and read threads on all the candidate's positions. That's why I try to be very careful and not say anthing that would offend the supporter of any candidate. We all need to work together and not waste time and energy in flame wars.

Depending on what is said, who says it, and in what context, there could potentially be a number of charges along the lines of defamation, providing a forum for defamation on public airwaves, slander, something under hate crimes law, etc. One might try contacting somebody like the Anti-Defamation League or the Southern Poverty Law Center to explore the possibilities.
IIRC the Faux suit was in the realm of copyright infringement.
