| In some public areas of the U.K., British flags are not allowed... |

I find this rather ridiculous. Who cares if someone who immigrated from a different country is offended by it: They live in the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, and as such have no reason or right to be upset when the flag of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland is flown in public areas of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.

I just feel that British citizens and the British government should have the right to fly the Union Jack wherever they damn well please, provided that it is their own property. I'm not saying immigrants should not be allow to flag their original country's flag on their own property, should they choose to do so.

| 4. I don't actually like the british flag very much |
|
The main reason is that the Union Jack has a bit in my mind been co-opted by the hardline neo-nazis. You always see the skinheads at football matchs hiding behind the flag as the beat the crap out of some poor guy.
And I suppose this overt patriotism thing is a bit too extrovert for the british too, perhaps.

that sort of stands for our National Identity, whereas you have the Constitution and the Flag for yours.

Union Jack waistcoats used to be a fashion item so nowadays the flag sort of reminds me of flared trousers.

I had no idea neonazis used Union Jack...
And this is obviously political correctness taken to the ignorant extreme.

People should be able to fly whatever flag they want to
edit: though it may be hard for us to understand the civil ramifications of flying the flag in some places, if it would in some places incite violence or something, then I could understand such a law.
