| Bingo! NBC Nightie-News just reported on the Fastow plea bargain. |
|
Mrs. Fastow (Leah?) might have a deal. Andrew Fastow is working on one. His deal, according to NBC, will probably send him to the slammer for 10 years. But! But! It will be predicated on testimony against Skilling and Lay!
Ken Lay in an orange jump suit in an election year! Maybe!
BTW, for newbies: DemoTex used to work for Kenny-Boy lay. I flew him around in Learjet 55s and Lockheed JetStar IIs. I've got more dirt on Lay than you find in a Dirt-Devil bag.

I worked for Lay at Transco (the Transcontinental Gas Pipeline Corp). Pre-Enron. Lay left Transco in 1985 or so for Houston Natural Gas. He bought InterNorth in Omaha to form Enron.

| 21. InterNorth used to be Northern Natural Gas, didn't it? |
|
I worked in Omaha for the bank that had the Northern Natural Gas accounts and my first program was the "Account Reconciliation Program" for their dividen checks. It matched checks cashed against those that were still outstanding.
That was in 1966 - oops, showing my age but I was still a teenager then.

Where that testimony goes will be the acid-test. Fastow could still get Baxtered, too. Eh?

DemoTex: I think I speak for many, many folks when I say that you are one of the most trusted and respected people on this board. Well, at the very least I speak for myself. And to hear you - and I was well aware of your previous work for Kenny Boy, and found your posts fascinating when the Enron scandal was unfolding - say that Baxter was murdered is like a relief. It is the one real "tin foil" theories that I believe without a shred of doubt (and I work in the corporate law field), so YOUR post here heartens me quite a bit. I've read all the Enron books (I may teach a class on the whole scandal one day), which dance around the issue, or attempt - always quite weakly - to refute the murder speculation (see especially "24 Days"), but with each attempted debunking, my conviction grows. The guy was fucking killed, pure and simple. These Enron people - and their connections - are real fucking savages.

How could Baxter's death be anything short of murder? Really? You know the truth and I know it. Cliff Baxter was murdered. In Sugarland, Texas (Delay country). No further comment.

About DemoTex being one of the most trusted and respected DU'ers. About his saying Baxter was offed. And this being one of the tinfoils you believe in. So do I.
I hope Fastow is singing. I really want to see Skilling and especially Lay do the perp walk this year - before the elections.

We flew Mrs. Lay #1 to the loony-bin in Pennsylvania in the Lear 25 (N50L). Word was she was an alcoholic. Maybe. Maybe not. I knew her and never saw the evidence. Within two weeks Ken is squiring the young Miss Linda (who he brought with him to Transco from Florida Natural Gas) round on the company jets. A few weeks later they marry.
Now, Linda Lay was the one who went on "Good Morning America," or one of those AM programs, and shed tears about their losses after the Enron implosion. On the other hand, I always liked Linda. She was cool, sweet, and treated us pilots as professionals. I flew her to Europe a couple of times in the Lockheed JetStar II.
Linda had a bunch of kids that she brought into the union. Ken had a few ,too. It took the big 4-engined JetStar to haul the whole family around. Most of those flights were to Columbia, Mo., where Ken's parents lived. His dad was a nurseryman and a part-time Methodist minister (I'm sure about the nursery and iffy on the preacher bit).
Ken Lay is deathly allergic to shellfish. Shrimp were prohibited on flights with Ken. He loved Pouilly-Fouisse. Lay was a soft-spoken, likable guy. But he was ruthless, and it was obvious.
Ken Lay actually swung both ways, politically, when I knew him. I do now recognize that as opportunism. However, it gave me the unique opportunity to meet and fly the great Barbara Jordon, among others.

I remember hearing her speak and watching her on tv when I was growing up. I was amazed at that time at the power of her words and the obvious impact she had-- especially as both a woman and an African American. And, though I heard my share of disparaging and somewhat racist comments growing up as I did-- largely in the South-- I never heard these comments about her. Sadly, we are left with few who even strive to live to her example and we are the poorer for it.

to stagger their incarcerations so at least one parent can be with the kids. I hope Fastow does all ten and loses everything. My bet is that all their cash is tied up in their homestead. Damn Texas bankruptcy laws permit it too.
