| I HATE WALKIE TALKIE/ CELL PHONES |
|
The regular ones aren't annoying enough in public such a restaurants etc.. but these walkie talkie ones are really bad.
Is it really that difficult to hold the damn phone to your head so only you can hear the other person???? I was at lunch today and a guy waiting for a seat was talking away on the darn thing.
Then walking back to work I walked by someone using one - at least he was outside.
Am I just way beyond trying to impress people with little toys like that??????
argh!

| 1. I refuse to get a leash, um, cell phone. |
|
I walk to work and am rarely in cars so I don't need one for safety. And if I did have one, I'd be getting work calls at all hours. Somebody at work just the other day expressed shock at my backwardness and asked how he could get ahold of me in the evening. I told him if I wasn't home to leave a message. He was shocked and appalled. Tough.

| 2. No..the first time I saw a person using a cell phone..I thought |
|
NOW there's an investment...something to make you look important to everyone else ( a VERY visible medium)....gee if only I had $1,000 back then...I would be a millionair today! But then I would also require a cell phone to be in touch with my broker. Such phony importance is beyond belief...and causes more stress than it relieves.

| 3. "If you ever see me using a cell phone, slap me." I want a sticker |
|
that says that.
Don't get me wrong, I have one and use it often (I have a medical condition that makes it a bit of a security blanket). But I am very discreet when using it--I would no more use it in a crowd than I would pick my nose. The only time I used it when others were around was, you guessed it, to call 911.

| 5. The really weird thing is that I've seen tv commercials... |
|
more or less promoting that obnoxious walkie-talkie noise they make. Umm, fellas? Everybody already hates cell phones; adding even more unpleasant sound effects is not going to make them more endearing.
