| What you learn when you get older |
|
I will admit it I am 40 years old yes I am OLD!
Things that I have learned to deal with.
1. I don't care about who people date or have sex with as long as they are happy. I love men but I don't care if my friends are gay or straight they are people.
2. If I fart or belch in public screw it that's life.
3. If I am out of makeup screw people I am going out anyways.
4. If I fall out in public I brush myself off and get back up like it didn't happen and If my boobs fall out of my blouse now that's another story.
5. Music is music and I don't knock anyone for liking any type of music it's there choice.
6. Jerks with baby buggies that run over your feet in public I have learned to deal with it.
7. Being asked if I am gay because I don't have any kids well that doesn't effect me anymore who the hell cares.
8. Rude people that shove you in public I don't say anything to them anymore.
9. People asking me If I am a kid because I am 5"3 and I must not look my age at times. I have learned to deal with that also.
10. My Hair if it looks bad I will pull it back in a pony tail and the people can look at someone else.
A BITCH AT COLLEGE TELLING ME THAT I LOOK LIKE I STEPPED OUT OF THE 1800'S IN ENGLAND WITH MY BAD BOTTOM TEETH WELL F*CK HER. I WILL NOT QUIT COLLEGE!

| 6. My fav thing about turning 40 |
|
All of that shallow crap I used to care sooooooo much about: I just don't give a rat's ass anymore. All of the angst and drama, poof, gone. Suddenly, everything sifted out until only the things that really matter were left. It's a wonderful, freeing feeling not to have to worry about all of that other crap, the need to make everyone happy, the need to please every single person I came across, worrying about what other people thought about me. Nowadays I only keep up with what I WANT to keep up with... screw the Joneses. I have no earthly idea what popular music sounds like these days, because I only listen to what I WANT to listen to (CDs). I have no idea what teenagers today are wearing, nor do I care. I have no idea what is popular, what is trendy, what is "in," nor do I care.
I've never been happier in my life, and you couldn't pay me to go back and be 20 again. If 40 is this good, my God, I can't wait until 50!
Turning 43 in November,

1.Most people* are not all that intelligent, and don't seem to really care.
2.Most people* are extremely selfish, and completely inconsiderate of others.
3.Most people* suck.
4.The United States has become a very arrogant country, and has gotten exactly what it has come to deserve- President George W. Bush.
5.I'm having a crappy day and it's hot out.
* -denotes American citizenry.

1. No one is as weird as they think they are. 2. Everyone is weirder than others think they are. 3. Everybody is somebody else's weirdo.

Just today, I was reflecting on being 40.
I don't intimidate so easily any more. I am WAY TOO OLD for the pressure, the lectures and the abuse. People just try the same old tricks to push me around and it's getting old. I have many responsibilities and lots of people on my case. If they don't like the way I'm discharging my duties, they can just kiss my ass.
I don't need to look perfect. I'm 40, I have a desk job and I had a baby. That does things to your body. Deal.
My life has meaning. It's not clear what that meaning is, but my actions have an effect on the world around me. It matters what I do.
There's no Mr. Right in the world, but there are plenty of Mr. Plausibles. So I went and married me one of them.
I can put up with a lot of aggravation, as long as I know that the love is real.

To have been as calm then as I am now. Not that I'm calm in any absolute sense, mind you.

1. Love is the most precious gift in the world.
2. If I want to dye my hair red and black and wear rock 'n' roll tank tops that's MY business.
3. If I want to get another tatoo I don't need anyone's permission.
4. Spoiled housecats are the last stage of reincarnation before Nirvana.
Other than that, all I really need to know is how to mix a good cocktail or two.
