| has your own kid ever embarrassed you? |
|
true story. our older two were already grown, and we were grocery shopping with the youngest, a boy. he was about 3 i guess, or younger. we were going through the checkout line and the checkout lady was talking to him and saying he had beautiful hair of something and out of the blue he says, 'my mom beats me'.
we thought we'd die right there. the lady had a shocked look on her face, and we both started nervously laughing and assuring the onlookers that we do not, not, beat the boy.
it's funny now, but it embarrassed the hell out of us.

| 2. Our two year old smashed a gumball machine. |
|
He was leaning on it and it fell over and smashed. All the gumballs rolled out into the parking lot of the car dealership. Fortunately it was on a Sunday afternoon and nobody was around. Unfortunately we felt honor-bound to fess up and I spent the whole day Monday calling around apologising and trying to find out who owned it.

| 3. A friend of mine was at the grocery store with her daughter. |
|
She picked up a bottle of wine since she was having friends over for dinner (us). Please understand this friend hardly ever drinks, when she does it is only one or two. Well her sweet innocent daughter looks up at her with her big blue eyes and says very loudly. "You aren't going to get drunk again tonight, are you mom."

My great aunt lived with us for a few years. She no longer attended church, but once in a while some of the geriatric members would visit on Sunday afternoon.
One day Miz t. saw them coming up the front walk. She was dressed in a long T shirt, and not much else.
"Oh God, the geezers are here. Honey (to our 6 year old daughter) answer the door and tell them I'll be there as soon as I get some clothes on."
Our little girl opened the door and said "HI GEEZERS, come on in. Mom will be here as soon as she gets some clothes on."

| 6. My then two year old decided to notice |
|
skin color in a crowded department store. She loudly proclaimed, "He has black skin!" Everyone turned to stare. Of course, she noticed a young man who appeared to be shopping with his much younger sister and didn't feel too comfortable to begin with. I froze for a second or two and pointed out that everyone has different color skin. She then proceeded to notice all the shades of people's skin. Everyone laughed when she pointed out the green lady who had on a pair of tights. The weird thing is that her preschool and group of friends was multi-racial. I guess she just never noticed before.

| 7. I spent a LOT of money for my kid to take a film making class |
|
Edited on Fri Jun-04-04 01:17 PM by radwriter0555
during a summer program through her school.
So they have a BIG presentation and screening of all the kid's films (shorts) in a fancy schmancy hall, every parent, every kid is there.
My kid is asked live on a mic in front of some 200 people what she has learned from the experience. She says that she learned I like to stop at Coffee Bean and get pure chocolate iced blendeds.
*sigh*
