Today would've been Dean Martin's 87th birthday.
Edited on Mon Jun-07-04 07:25 PM by NightTrain
The man after whom my parents named me was born Dino Crocetti in Steubenville, Ohio on June 7, 1917. He moved to California in 1937 and teamed up with the 20-year-old comedian Jerry Lewis in 1946. Their first film together, "My Friend Irma," came out in 1949. After their 16th film, "Hollywood Or Bust," Martin & Lewis broke up in 1956.

Dean Martin's long string of '50s and '60s pop hits included "That's Amore," "Memories Are Made Of This," "Innamorata," "Return To Me," "Volare," "Everybody Loves Somebody," "The Door Is Still Open To My Heart," "Houston," "I Will," and "In the Chapel in the Moonlight." From 1965-74, he hosted his own TV variety show.

Dean Martin died on Christmas Day 1995, at age 78. RIP, Dino!

2. How lucky can one guy be?
I kissed her and she kissed me
Like the fella once said,
"Ain't that a kick in the head?"
The room was completely black,
I hugged her and she hugged back
Like the sailor said, quote,
"Ain't that a hole in the boat?"
My head keeps spinnin',
I go to sleep and keep grinnin'
If this is just the beginnin',
my life is gonna be bee-yoo-tee-ful
I've sunshine enough to spread,
it's just like the fella said
Tell me quick, ain't love a kick in the head?
Like the fella once said,
"Ain't that a kick in the head?"
Like the sailor said, quote,
"Ain't that a hole in the boat?"
My head keeps spinnin',
I go to sleep and keep grinnin'
If this is just the beginnin',
my life is gonna be bee-yoo-tee-ful
She's tellin' me we'll be wed,
she's picked out a king-size bed
I couldn't feel any better or I'd be sick
Tell me quick oh, ain't love a kick?
Tell me quick ain't love a kick in the head?

3. In a weird coincidence...
I was watching a tape of Dean Martin's celebrity roast, and the roastee was Ronald Regan.
