We all need cars in our self-destructive society.
We always rely on friends and 3rd party reviews as to what to buy.
There is at least one car commercials per commercial break, often two.
So why do we need commercials advertising them? We know where to go when we need one.
Save the money and spare us a couple thou in return.

1. I've wondered that about Pepsi and McDonalds, too |

they spend millions on celebrity endorsements for prodicts that everyone already knows about...
it seems like advertizing is the last great illusion, and that if companies knew how little effect these expensive ads had, they would just let the CEO pocket all that cash instead!

No single manufacturer would be so willing to drop the ads and let the others keep going.
Of course, if they made an announcement like "For the next three months, we're going to stop our TV ads and give each person who buys one of our cars a check for the savings" that might be a different matter.

4. Look at pharmaceuticals. Canada has banned advertising, and... |

Canadian drug prices are so much cheaper than ours that Americans go on the Internet, or even ride on buses for hours, to take advantage of them, even on drugs produced here in the U.S. and imported into Canada.
