What a hoot it would be to watch Howdy Doody or Kookla Fran and Ollie again. Not to mention Captain Video and Tom Corbet Space Cadet, and Rocky Jones Space Rangers. (I had such a crush on Rocky's sidekick Vena Ray.)

Actually, of course, a lot of the live shows were broadcast before the age of videotape, and they may exist only on poor quality kinescopes, if at all. Pinky Lee and Howdy Doody may be gone forever.

And one of the girls on the Mickey Mouse club who's name escapes me at the moment. (No, it wasn't Annette. Everybody else in my class had a crush on her, but she didn't float my boat at all.)

And what about Robin Hood? I loved that show. I wanted be to be a Robin Hood when I grew up. Or a Lone Ranger if all the Robin Hood positions were filled.

As a rather plain-spoken conservative man from small town rural America, who loved local beer "joints," big band music, and Chet Atkins, this fascination with the British snob, Higgins, seemed incongruous to say the least....LOL
