Without being too specific--I don't want to give my address--what can DUers tell me about N. Miami Beach, Aventura, and that part of Dade County? Are those towns safe?

| 1. Pretty safe.... Just use your head in Miami... |

It can be rough in some spots.... NMB and the Adventura area have a whole bunch of retirees (sp).... Biscayne BLVD can get quite congested.... It's an OK area....

A couple rules of thumb:
-Don't walk around a mall parking lot alone at night. -Don't stop and ask for directions from guys riding bicycles in questionable neighborhoods.
Other than that, it's a great place to live your life. Nobody really bothers anybody and as long as you watch out for yourself you can have a great time. There's lot's to do within driving range, even Key West and Disney are only a few short hours away.

I thought you were living in Washington DC. I checked in on this thread because my sister Angela lives in Fort Myers. John Whatever -- I hope you're doing well.

...when in Miami...
Part of it is nice, but you can easily get lost in a maze of one way streets, not be able to go back the way you came, and end up in some really nasty places where you better not stop at any stop signs if you see anyone on the corner.(I'm not kidding they will jack you up, it happens al the time, especially tourists lost leaving the airport)
Personally I try not to set foot in Miami unless I have to...I went down to see Dave Chapelle a few weeks ago and it wasn't bad at all..
Just be aware.

The beaches are really nice. Miami Beach, Surfside, Bal Harbor, Sunny Isles Beach are all fine places to live. It's just parts of the mainland that suck.

| 11. Yup, and then keep going south to Key Biscayne, Coconut Grove |
|
and Coral Gables. And get yourself down to the Keys some day too. Take at least a weekend for the Keys, the longer, the better. That's where I need to be to get my head screwed back on straight.
(Straight...Key West...LOL!...it's a joke, son ;) )

about the only neighborhoods I would consider would be Biscayne Park and Miami Shores. However, they might be a little too far south for where you need to be. If you can go even further south, Coral Gables, some parts of old Coconut Grove and South Miami are all pretty nice.

| 14. I live in South Dade (West Kendall area) |
|
and I love it...Aventura can have it's rough spots so just keep your eyes open as you drive until you know your way around...
Good places to live Cost
Coral Gables $$$ Bal Harbor $$$$ South Miami $$ Kendall $$ Coconut Grove $$$$ (The grove's $$$$ neighborhood is very small...other than that be careful)
PM me if you want to know more or specifics about places...I've lived in S. Florida for almost 25 years
