6. Beer Choices

1) I live in Atlanta and dropped by a liquor warehouse last
weekend and much to my surprise they had six packs of
IRON CITY beer. Being a Pittsburgh native, I couldn't believe
my eyes, and made sure I got a six pack and I'll be going back
there again.

2) Most decent beers I like are also cheap, and I rarely purchase
anything more expensive than BUD ICE. If I'm out I'll treat
myself to a GUINNESS if I'm in the mood for something very heavy.
MICHELOB is good but not great, and sometimes HEINEKEN is a skunky beer.

3) OLD MILWAUKEE or PABST BLUE RIBBON. Old Milw. finished first
in a Consumer Reports test a few years back and they have a
great brewmaster. Pabst has a distinctive taste that is a
nice change from most beers.

My favorite weird Iron City product was a beer with a dash of pineapple
to give it a supposed tropical accent called HOP'N GATOR.
Hop'n Gator didn't last very long in the beer market of the 1970's.

Harp - if it's UK Harp, that's pretty cheap, nasty stuff.
Bass - I know that you can't get many UK beers in the US (if that's where you are) but Bass is one of the worst ales in the UK (if it's the same Bass as in the UK).

23. It's a very good beer

Honestly, the Czechs know all about Pils. I wouldn't say it's the best, but among the best (Pilsner Urquell, another czech brew, isn't bad either).
It has nothing to do with the US bud (or Anheuser Bush, as it's called here).
I'm no good at describing tastes, so all I can say is: golden; nice foam; moderatly bitter (for an European brew); best when cold, but not iced; a whiff of malt.
Ah, and the usual 5%.

I'm assuming you're talking about brews I'd have in the fridge, not what I'd go for on tap.

1) With a hefty amount of beer money, I like to gamble some of it on brews I've never tried; and make sure I've got enough for a bottle of Cantillon Gueuze or DuPont Saison to reward myself for living dangerously.

2) If I've got just enough for a good beer, I'll take Anchor Liberty Ale, Coniston Bluebird Bitter, Tupper's Hop Pocket, Rogue Dead Guy Ale, or a growler of fresh Franklin's (my local brewpub) Anarchy Ale.

3) If I really REALLY want a beer, and I can't afford much, I'll take a Yuengling lager...

It rained all the time, but it introduced me to good beer. Before living there I would have said:

1. Michelob Light
2. Bud Light
3. Busch Natural Light

Now I say:

1. Pyramid Hefeweizen
2. Pyramid Hefeweizen -- just don't buy as many
3. No beer today. When payday rolls around I'll buy some Pyramid Hefeweizen.

Honestly, if there's one thing that would get me to move back to Seattle it's the beer. But having lost the 25 pounds I gained there, maybe it's better if I don't move back.
