Fried fresh-cut okra. I made some last night. It was delicious.
Here's how you make Southern Fried Okra, if you ever want to give it a try. Cross-slice the okra. In another bowl, whisk an egg and pour over the sliced okra. Then put just enough corn meal in the bowl to lightly dust the okra. Mix it all up. Put some olive oil in a cast iron skillet and then fry the okra until the cornmeal is dark brown and crispy.
If I had some fresh okra left, I'd fix it right now. Guess a tomato sandwich will do, instead.

| 1. If you just let the sliced okra sit for a few minutes |
|
all the snotty stuff will start to leak out and you can skip the egg!

If you are doing Atkins, you can just leave off the cornmeal.
Nah, on second thought, what is fried okra without cormeal?
I'm evil...sorry.

Chicken and dumplings are like my FAVORITE FOOD OF ALL TIME.

My mother has some white squash (the kind that's shaped like a flying saucer) growing in her garden. Have you ever eaten it lightly dusted and fried? God it's good.
I have to quit torturing you AND myself. :-)
