Just heard a commercial on the radio with some AOR-wannabe Billy Big Balls announcer.
Somewhere on the list of things I never thought I'd hear.

Get this: Company A was trying to book them for an outdoor event in Nashville, where tickets would cost concert-goers 7-10 dollars. But Frank wanted to play at the Ryman, and so Compnny B got them for *probably* about the same booking fee. They will instead play to 2000 less people for $34 and $45 per ticket.
I don't begrudge them for cashing in. I begrudge them for cashing in at the unnecessary expense to their fans so Frank can have his little thrill.

I saw them at Coachella in May-flew in from NY to CA to see them. It was worth it-I didn't see them the first time around, but people who have saw them back then and have seen them now say they are just as good. I just got tickets for the NYC show and am looking forward to it. They are incredible live-the songs are powerful but strangely they have no stage presence or an anti-stage presence-Charles never talks to tha audience, they take no break between songs and they just look at the guitars, really concentrating on the music. They're really good. And 30-40 dollars is normal price for a big concert nowadays, unfortunately.
The Washington DC tickets haven't gone on sale yet, you should try to grab one esp if you haven't seen them before. And yes I have heard they are thinking about a new album next spring.

| 7. I imagine they are much BETTER live now. |

They really had no stage personality the first time around. I saw them in '92, and they just stood there, never said anything, just played their set and left.
But I've seen Frank Black recently, and he's really gotten comfortable with the live setting. I have no doubt that, although he may not be able to scream as loud these days, their shows are far superior.

| 8. the only tickets i could find for the atlanta show in august were over $70 |
|
that is just too much for me, and i don't think i will be making it to D.C. that would be quite a drive.
don't get me wrong, i would probably pay the money if the gigs were closer to me, but being expensive and far away really cuts down on the appeal.

| 9. Hey! I was at Coachella too! |

I ditched near the end of their show, though, to get good seats for Kraftwerk, but what I saw absolutely rocked.
My brother's much bigger fan of them than I am, but they definitely didn't disappoint.

Got tickets for the show in Houston in Ocotber. They weren't terribly expensive about $37 plus service charges. I don't listen to anything except public radio so I can be pleasantly ignorant about whether or not they've been co-opted by the local "alternative" station.
