Central Florida is still kind of messed up. Hundreds of thousands w/o power, etc. Streets still blocked with trees. I can't imagine what it must be further back toward where Charley first hit (Charlotte County.)
There is very little gasoline, and most stations don't have the power to pump it.
This could play right into *'s hand, if I weren't so confident that he will fuck this opportunity up too. Many, many people here are facing huge personal losses. Even those with homeowner's insurance are finding that they have "special" (read: higher) deductibles for wind damage. It should all percolate right up for November.

What part of Orlando do you live in? I have a friend in Maitland and everything appears to be back there......
She had roof, window and tree damage. How 'bout you?

| 2. I live in Belle Isle.. |

won't have power for days. No structural damage, lots of trim and landscape damage. Though most neighbors have major (ie tree into house) problems.
I understand Winter Park and College Park are similar.

i have heard that there are not enough to adequately help, as they are in Iraq. Glad to know our DU'ers are safe. Did you suffer any personal loss?

| 5. "Special " deductibles for wind ? |
|
Are you sure about that? I am in Louisiana, and when I had tropical storm damage last year (mid five figures) because it was caused by wind (tree fall) the deductible was only $500.
The "special" deductible on my policy is for flood insurance, and it is much higher if I am ever a victim of rising water, but as the water that got in my house came through the huge holes in the ceiling, the higher deductible did not apply.
I hope some of these folks with tree fall/wind damage can double-check their paperwork and not get slammed with an extra expense. They need to be careful that their adjuster understands exactly what happened and is not just making assumptions. If possible, take photographs of the tree on the house or other wind damage. We created an entire CD of digital pictures of our accident. The general contractor said it was very helpful in refreshing the adjuster's memory and making sure that we got approved for all the necessary repairs. When the adjuster had forgotten that we had a certain kind of damage, the contractor could just pull up the picture on the CD.
