UPDATE On My Rant:HEARTBREAKING Elderly Story - I AM IN ACTION!!

THIS IS OUR NEW ACTIVISM!!!!

The elderly are being scammed via email. Nigerian, Spanish, Brazilian, American etc.. THEY ARE BEING PREYED UPON

well, with Mrs Matcom heading up a Fraud Dept. for a bank and ME (luckily) having MOST of the area "Elder Services" for the state of Massachusetts as web design clients, we are forming a TEAM of action!

tomorrow, I am going to phone the heads of the agencies who are my customers and ask them if they are interested in Mrs Matcom giving a FRAUD CLASS to them that they can pass off to their elderly. PRO BONO! i'll let them invite the rest.

i think this thing might work. they could come to the bank or Mrs Matcom will go to them individually. teach them about Internet and Banking fraud and they can inform their elderly.

i like this. suddenly i feel like an activist and am feeling a little better.

will float the trial balloon tomorrow in the am.

i think we can really help here. i will let you know how it turns out.

1. My parents are elderly and live in Sun City Fla.

My Dad told me they call up all the time and say it's time for me to come out and clean your furnace again. He told then what to hell are you talking about ? You have never been here. They do get away with a lot of scams on elderly people. I bet half the people they call just write the check. Preying on the elderly is sick.

7. Here in TX it's roofing scams

WAY more expensive than furnace cleaning, I'm sure... they show up, tell people they'll assess their roofs for free, then charge them for work they don't need.

Preying on children or the elderly deserves a special kind of punishment.

Have you thought about trying to connect with someone in AARP and/or NOW outreach? They might have programs in place or have contacts that might be useful. Good luck, and good for you two - our crimefighting duo!!

30. Maybe Ms. Matcom should approach law enforcement.

The woman that she helped was almost a victim of fraud. The local police should have information about who to call in cases of illegal solicitations. In any case, her phone records can be traced and the people that tried to steal from her can be identified.

Ms. Matcom will save so many people from harm. Her mere presence showed that woman that she is not alone in the world. The best part of this idea is that the people in the group that are lonely can share the class with each other.

Ms. Matcom deserves a big :grouphug:.
