When he was having his tax trouble, he got booked into an industry event I attended....the "entertainment" there usually consisted of bitter has-beens who went through the motions and were gone in 30 minutes or so....

Willie was only there because he needed the dough, and nobody would have minded if he'd done a half-hour set...but he did FOUR hours, and then sat on the edge of the stage talking to anyone who wanted to say hello while his roadies packed up the band's equipment...which took another 90 minutes or so....

Liked some of the classic country (Johnny Cash, Roger Miller, Ray Stevens, Patsy Cline, Marty Robbins, Homer & Jethro) and a lot of country rock (the Flying Burrito Brothers, Gram Parsons, New Riders)...
