What are some good two set speakers for a computer?

My speakers now suck. They're weird too, I dont even have my volume on yet if I put headphones on, I can hear but its too loud and I installed my sound drivers. God computers suck sometimes. Sorry if this is annoying,

1. I used to have a set of Altec Lansings, I think they were model

ATP-3 if I remember right, they were pretty sweet. I'm not sure if you can still find them anywhere though

I currently have the Z-680 set and they sound fantastic.

6. I have Altec Langsing self powered system for my laptop.

Connects via USB, 5 speakerz plus sub-woofer. 5.1 sound. Think it's around 100 watts. Not super high end audio, but these old ears can tell the difference anyway...

2. I have Cambridge Soundworks set ...

got 'em for less than $50 bucks at Best Buy ... they work great. Good volume, good clarity. I'm not sure that they even make mine anymore, since they are 3 years old, but I'm sure whatever they make still work well.

You can get a subwoofer or a 5 piece set as well. I like mine.

3. Your best bet is to have a componant system

...as far as quality sound goes.

I feed mine into a mixing board ...a Yamaha stand-alone Amp...
..Jbl Studio Monitors.

You certainly don't have to spend that much but the KEY THING
to remember is that Speakers are usually the weakest link.

As the risk of sounding elisist:
Any set of speakers under about 250 bucks are "Toys"

I wonder whats up with my current ones though, even when the speakers are turned off, I can still hear sound but the problem is the sound is too loud, its disturbing and hurts my head. I'll probably head over to best buy to do a lot of stuff hopefully tommorow like get new speakers, find out what the hell is going on with the iPod etc. Thanks again.
