| What does a Hard Drive Power Dongle look like? |
|
And where might I find a spare one hanging around inside a computer? Just sitting there not plugged in to anything, or does it need to be attached, or what? And is there a way to add one should there not be one there?

If you look near your power supply you should see a bunch of wires. On the end of one of those sets of wires you should see a white/clear connector that looks like a funny looking plug. That is a a power dongle.

| 4. Yes.... just hanging around, unattached... a bachelor sort of dongle |

visiting the night clubs... hanging out in the coffee shops... looking for an attractive hard drive to get together with.
Yes.... just hanging inside the box.... there may even be several spare ones.... as you can add CDRoms, drives, another floppy, which would be a miniature dongle, etc.

this is probably 3rd thread in trying to figure out if I can support a new one. My current one I'm almost positive does not use one, because I've taken the whole thing out without noticing any power cables coming from it. I thought it was one of those white things, but I've also got a case fan connected by one of those, and I couldn't imagine that was something that could power a whole hard drive... There is a open one hanging around I've seen before, but it is a hole, not a cable with a plug on the end. Will the card have the cable part, or will I be left with two of the same end? I could be wrong, I think it's tied up in a ball to get out of the way. I'll look again some time, but this is just from memory. (It's hard to post about the inside of the computer, being as one requires it on, and the other off ;-))
