Need some help with a fairly recent court case...

I have been wracking my brain trying to remember the case (last year?) of the woman who bludgeoned two of her three children to death and was found not guilty by reason of insanity. I have been searching and searching and have run out of ideas on where to search. Does anyone out there remember the case? If so, do you remember the state and the name of the woman? PLease getback to me, as I am trying to assemble a comparison assignment for one of my classes. I vaguely remember that there was a question in her ind about whether or not her children were possessed, but I am quite vague on the details.

see if you can find someone interested in looking into the link between maternal severe depression and religiosity; I'm busy with the links between narcissism, social anxiety disorder, depression, and amotivation and homeschooling.

4. Wow, some of that sounds like it would be right up my alley...

I would argue that there is a definite link between the materanl depression and the religiosity of the male SO. In the case of Andrea Yates, I am still working out possible scenarios, and am going to challenge my students to differentiate the two cases, on the basis of perceptions of social capital and social visibility. I would argue that narcissism, social anxiety disorder, and many forms of depression (don't know enough about homeschooling and amotivation) have their roots in consumerism and in the current post-modernistic definition of the social environment. We do not live in an 'individual friendly' social environment, as our addiction to fads is revealed in our drive to ever increasing consumerism and the relegation of non-competitive consumers as lazy and unmotivated (or even unpatriotic and anti-American). 5. actually, what I'm doing with the narcissism and depression and

homeschooling is looking for the correllations between childhood isolation from peers and the inability for adult homeschooled children to relate to others in socially appropriate ways. While I agree with you on the consumerism issues, my prime emphasis is functionality within the greater society by homeschooled children. What I've got so far is that many children who were exclusively homeschooled from an early age are not competent when faced with situations that require empathy or making ethical decisions with regard to the needs of others when opposed to their own needs. (Sound like a lot of Republicans??)

it's going to get me burned at the stake by the home school advocates, but I don't care. If I can come up with replicable evidence (I've got serious anecdotal evidence now) that homeschooling is damaging to children's psycho-social development, i'll have proved my hypothesis. (Doctoral work. Dammit, I AM getting my piled higher and deeper!!)
