| my dream: Colin Powell resigns; endorses Kerry's 'domestic agenda' |
|
Edited on Sun Sep-05-04 03:20 AM by expatriot
Some Sunday in the near future:
Colin Powell, who resigned his post as Secretary of State last week has broke his silence this morning on Meet the Press with a surprise endorsement of a Kerry candidacy.
"This has precious little to do with Iraq or other national security issues," Powell said on Meet the Press today. "I made the call that I could not be complacent to the President's mishandling of the domestic agenda which I feel to be a radical departure from the relative fiscal and social moderation of both parties in the recent past."
While Powell remained tightlipped as to how intelligence failures and his role in those failures affected his resignation and endorsement of Kerry, he stated "I do feel that I am prepared to comment on my firm belief that a second Bush administration offers no clear advantages to how a Kerry administration would conduct the war on terror," and "trying to speculate on how a new administration may negatively affect the ongoing war is an intentional strategy to get Americans to forget about the domestic issues."
