not lost any (Yet??) that is...but we have had some very heated moments ...most of the folks I talk to about this are Bushenites...extremly narrow minded.......they refuse to see any other angle when it comes to him. So we all have just agreed to disagree...and talk about everything EXCEPT politics.....I have also pissed a few folks off with my emails....heheheh....I just love to stir the pot...:grr:

My best friend is a hard core repuke, but we find area where we both agree and just don't talk about the rest. No matter what happens, your friends and family should be number one. I'm not saying you should set aside your beliefs or stop working for Kerry, but there comes a time when you realize your friend or family member cannot be changed, so if you value that relationship, you should take politics off the table.

| 3. I have a repub friend and we purposely don't talk politics |
|
we both know where we each stand so we just respect each other and don't bring anything up.
She saw my bumperstickers yesterday and actually got a good laugh out of the "A Village in Texas is Missing it's Idiot."
I will visit my family the first week of october. They are mostly repubs so I'm kind of scared what will happen.

We can no longer discuss politics without an argument - usually them telling me that I'm too liberal and un-american. Nice. Huh? My RW friends are still friends. Our political conversations are pretty humorous and light. We know we can't change each others minds.

| 7. I had friends over for for dinner who saw my anti-Junior bookshelf |
|
...Franken, Ivins, Dubose, Corn, Hightower, Carville...all of the high-profile books from the last year or two.
One of them said "you know, the people who wrote those books are just trying to influence the way you think."
It became a "let's just agree to disagree" moment. It didn't kill the friendship, but it made me think. During the RNC the wife told me about a trip she was making to New York, and before I knew they were pro-Bush, I jokingly asked "You're not going there to campaign for BUSH, are you?" She replied with a straight face "No, but if they ASKED me I WOULD."

| 8. I was thinking of this today. The Blue and Grey - sometimes |
|
brothers from the same family on opposite sides....
I know I don't talk to most of my family even before this and it is becoming clearer to me what the differences are - they are rethugs - They have many of the same markings and characteristics
I do have a dear friend that makes it very difficult - she did send me an email that I wanted to send back with the message - if you vote Bush your son will be going to Iraq - but decided not to - that would be acting like a rethug -
I can pray
I just can't believe after all that has happened that she is still voting for him.....but I know she has the ability to access information just like I do and it is not worth forcing the issue -
what she does when she gets in the voting booth may change her life forever
I was also thinking today of another program that is based on attraction rather than promotion.....
I know pushing things on people just turns them off. Spam and junk mail turn me off -
I don-t know how you get through to people - friends are more likely to listen to a stranger than a friend -

After spending hours talking with them about politics (they just treat me like I'm a little slow when we do) they're still voting for shrub. They're just happy that we're taking it to Al Qaeda over in Iraq. They actually said "its a good thing we're in Iraq cause now all the terrorists are in one place." ???????????

I have a number of ex "friends" who would just as soon I die tomorrow than be allowed to vote for Kerry in November.
Obviously, I need to choose my friends better in the future.

I had one good friend send me an email that said if I voted for Kerry and he won he hoped I would enjoy loosing all of my rights as a woman - something to do with the Taliban. My husband and I have had many huge fights and although he doesn't like Bush particularily he says there is no way he can vote for Kerry. I have to say I have lost respect for him and it has certainly hurt our marriage. Other friends just call me their favourite liberal but are still planning to vote for Bush

* Democrats * Apolitical.
My mother and sister fall into the latter category -- but they're learning. My mom went to an Obama rally yesterday! (She went to shut my dad up, but still.) My sister doesn't like Bush. They pretty much tune out when I get on a roll...but they don't get angry or anything.

I just don't want to hear my dad go on and on so close to the election when things look so grim to me as it is. Last time I heard from him he asked if i wanted to borrow his copy of the Swiftboat Assholes book about Kerry to read...I sent a very "disrespectful" email in response and haven't heard from him since. oh well. :eyes:

All of my close friends are liberals. My family is kind of divided. My mom, step-dad and my closest aunt and uncle are democrats. My two closest cousin are mixed. One is a republican and other doesn't vote that much. I'm working on her to register as a democrat, cuz she's been expressing her liberal side a lot these days.

It's really sad. I can't remember people ever being so deeply divided over a presidential election.

I posted about this a while back. One of my oldest friends and I are no longer speaking. I cannot have a civil conversation with my in-laws and I have one aunt with whom I completely avoid discussing politics for fear of becoming estranged. My address book looks totally different than it did 3 years ago. These are truly sad times.
