I got into a heated conversation with some gals at work.
I don't see how it's possible. They disagree.
What do you guys think?

http://www.straightdope.com/classics/a990903.htmlThere, in a nutshell, is the working hypothesis of Michael J. Harner's "The Role of Hallucinogenic Plants in European Witchcraft" in Hallucinogens and Shamanism (1973). Harner notes that since antiquity many hallucinogenic plants have been known throughout the world, including some species of the potato family (family Solanaceae, genus Datura) such as jimsonweed, devil's-weed, mad apple, etc., as well as potato cousins like mandrake, henbane, and belladonna (deadly nightshade).
Trolling through the works of medieval and Renaissance writers, Harner finds a number of instances in which witchy hallucinations follow a potent hit of drugs. How were these drugs administered? Typically in the form of an ointment. Where was this ointment applied? To the skin, of course, but more effectively to the mucous membranes. Where can one find mucous membranes? In the vagina, among other places. How would one apply ointment to one's vagina? Well, one can always count on one's fingers, I suppose. But you could also use, uh, a pole. And where might one find a pole in the average peasant household? A broomstick. Bingo.

had a woman in his room- a friend. she wanted to screw. He DIDN'T and made that very clear. They fell asleep in his bed and he awoke the next morning to her riding on top of him- full penetration. (morning woody, of course)
He freaked and rolled her off him. They argued and she left.

It's about power and sex, and both genders enjoy those in their own way. Would a woman rape a man in the same way as a man would rape a woman? Nope. Is it as likely? I'd say no. Is it possible? Sure.

just because a man is physically aroused, doesn't mean he is emotionally wanting the experience.
Using your logic (my assumption of your logic I mean) that because the person appears sexually ready, then it isn't rape, you would have to disregard any charges of statutory rape (sex with a minor) or any charges where the woman became pregnant, or any charges where the woman was married to the man.
Rape IS NOT ABOUT SEX it is about power. And women can weild power just as well as a man.

I remember having a conversation about sexism with my mother, who INSISTED that women can rape men. I laughed and asked her how it was physically possible.
She backed off and said, "well, maybe they can't....but they manipulate men to get their way by using sex!"
"Still a far cry from rape, mom."

It is VERY, VERY rare! There have been stats that have addressed this. However, most men would never report being a victim of rape when the attacker was a woman or women. Rape is a crime of violence, not sex. A woman could force a man to perform oral sex (on her), she could force blood into the penis and use it, or could penetrate the man orally or anally with a foreign object. So, in a long-winded way, yes a woman can rape a man, it is just very rare!

It happened to a male acquaintance of mine in high school. Everyone upthread has made good points upthread about rape being about power, etc. But I would also add that male rape survivors have an even harder time of it because so few people think it's possible. My friend had a very hard time finding counseling after his assault because no one believed him, and he couldn't very well go to a women's support group for obvious (and well-founded) reasons.
They deal with the issues female rape survivors experience (the guilt, the shame, etc.) but more so because of the erection factor. It's possible to have physical reactions while experiencing rape, even some women experience this, and it's all very confusing. It adds whole new layers to the "it's my fault" guilt trip we put on ourselves.
I just wish people of both genders who are survivors of rape and all kinds of sexual abuse could feel more comfortable in coming forward with their stories and seeking help. I never told anyone my story until the recent thread someone started on DU for survivors. It's terrible enough to go through something like that, but it's an even worse crime that our society is so judgmental and almost abuses them a second time.

and just arousal of a man does not mean that he cant be raped....or that he wants sex....following the logic that men often cant get erections when they certainly do want sex...its not always indicitive of arousal or desire

Erection doesn't always have to mean a man wants sex. Stimulation can cause an erection even when he doesn't want to engage in intercourse. I imagine it's difficult, but technically it's possible.

| 33. Is it rape to take advantage of a drunken man? |
|
I remember discussing this one. The female leader told us that it was rape if a man has sex with a very drunk woman, even if she consents at the time. The leaser didn't seem to understand the question if it was rape for a sober or near sober woman to have sex with a very drunken male. That sort of thing has happened to a couple guys who I know. It seems that these and many other men don't consider these incidences rape, but bad judgement. Personally, I get defensive and in a bad modd if I am more than a little drunk. A man, including my husband, would be less likely to get me to have sex with him if I were drunk than if I were sober. I guess some people are the opposite though.

Men get aroused for reasons beyond their control. And it is possible for them to even come while they are getting raped. Some women have experienced orgasms while being raped. Sometimes things happen to our bodies that are beyond our control. Duckie
