POLICE SAY MAN DIPPED TODDLER IN BOILING WATER

BRIDGEPORT - A city man dipped his girlfriend's two-year-old daughter into boiling water and slammed her with a hot iron when she wouldn't stop crying, police said Friday.

Travis Bush, 20, of Cowles Street, is charged with second-degree assault, risk of injury to a minor, and first-degree reckless endangerment.

The little girl, her legs and feet wrapped in bandages, was released from Bridgeport Hospital after spending more than a week in in the burn unit with second-degree burns over the lower half of her body.

Bush was taken into custody at his home Friday morning. He was later brought before Superior Court Judge John Blawie.
