Thanks a hell of a lot.

New neighbors - four barking dogs, 3 piece of crap cars (one parked in street doesn't run and was towed to house), husband and son sit on the front porch drinking beer and throws cans in driveway, husband has a beer gut the size of the Staples Center and walks around without a shirt, never see the wife (I imagine she's working two jobs to support beer drinking husband who never seems to leave the house), son seems to be fine (I think he stays at his girlfriend's house) and girlfriend drives up with stereo blasting at all hours of the night and day.

They obviously don't like me from the looks I get.

I don't know if it's my Kerry sign in the yard, or my American flag being flown upside down (been that way since Bush started Iraq war).

I have Vietnam veteran license plates, and I'm pretty sure that's keeping them from messing with me.

8. Some background:

I am currently renting 1/2 of a double. These bastards have never (in two years) taken out the trash or mowed the lawn. They constantly scream at each other, and stay up with their drunken redneck friends, making noise until 4:00 AM. They leave beer bottles on the lawn and on the porch. They own a loud "monster truck" (with numerous Confederate battle flags on it) that they have to rev for 10 minutes before the damn thing will run every morning.

I suspect that they left the landlord (a friend of mine) with a mess and several months worth of rent in arrears. They have a baby that cries a lot, only to be answered with "Shut the FUCK UP!" by the dad. I nearly called DCFS on him a few times.

They stole my K/E yard sign too. (I have more, no worries)

BUT.... They're gone! Finally!

I don't know what I would have done in your position, other than call the health department about the garbage, and DCFS about the poor baby. At least they're gone now and out of your life.

17. I had similar problems

though not nearly as severe. My neighbor (he still ives next door) would hold his domestic disputes and extreme child-discipline sessions in his driveway, at peak volume, whatever the hour.

Problem solved when his girlfriend bailed and took the kids with her. He's a pretty quiet guy now that he lives alone, except that he sometimes works on his house during the weekend morning hangover hours, with Molly Hatchet (Or is it Blackfoot? I can't really tell.) blaring from his boombox while he runs the circular saw, outdoors, 30 feet from my bedroom window.

At least he's clean. That garbage situation sounds nightmarish.

Living in San Francisco, I've never really come across the kind of bona fide white trash that you described. I'm sure I'd be shocked if I were to actually meet them in person. I'd probably be thinking, "Wow. I thought these were just caricatures of people that only existed on shows like 'COPS'."
