my folks are active and eat healthy and they both have high blood pressure.
I have been treated for it as well, but recently lost 30 lbs. and my doc is going to see what happens if I stay off of it for a while.

| 3. I'm sorry Demman. Sometimes high blood pressure doesn't care how |
|
healthy you are. I am on Toprol (150 mg) and Diovan and it still won't stay down sometimes. Most of the time I do okay, but I forgot to take my pills this AM and I knew it by 1. :hi:
Good luck to you both!

| 4. there was a story on NPR a couple of weeks ago |
|
about high blood pressure meds. The guest, a doctor who wrote a book about the developmet of alpha channel blockers, said that diuretics are vastly cheaper and work as well as alpha channel blockers. They also have a longer history with demonstrated safety.

| 5. The only problem with diuretics, as I found out the hard way, is that |
|
dehydration can set in very quickly when one gets sick or has stomach issues. :hi:

I am trying to eat better and exercise a bit more but what really has made a difference is working on the way I see myself and my life, which is something I'm able to do with my women's group. My last checkup two weeks ago showed my pressure down to 120/80. My doctor was thrilled.

I'm no doctor, so I won't try to convince you against what your doc may or may not have suggested. But Google vegetarian (or vegan) and hypertension and see what comes up.

He figured the temper tantrum I was throwing might have something to do with it.
