Single spaced.
20 research articles to be reviewed and tied together.
I am on page 20. I have to make it to page 50 by Wednesday.
It is on transformational leadership.
Goodbye DU until Thursday!

:wow: My economics Professor told our class that he had a wise guy in one of his classes last semester. The guy found a font on the Internet that was real large and he used the font on his report and what he handed in could have fit on one single page.

|
Edited on Mon Nov-15-04 07:10 AM by huellewig
I always struggled with literature. At least with Econ I could run around in circles. Which reminds me of one of my favorite quotes.
"President Harry Truman hated what he termed two-armed economists, those who would advise him first “on the one hand” and then “on the other hand.” Give me a one-armed economist, he demanded, an adviser who wouldn’t waffle."
And now that qoute pisses me off. From here on out it is French Toast and Pancakes.
Wierd: only half my post made it through. Should be OK now.

I took a class in organizational behavior, and we get fed classes in transformational leadership (we are in the ungodly position of having responsibility without authority)
Glad you are at page 43!!! Will you share your results?

Basically it is a detailed lit review of the more recent journal articles on the topic. Very broad in scope.
There are four components of transformational leadership (god, I must have typed that phrase 250 times in the last 48 hours):
1. Idealized influence - emphasizes trust, takes stands on difficult issues, presents the followers' most common values. is a role model that generates pride and confidence. charisma.
2. Inspirational motivation - generates and articulates an appealing vision of the future, challenges followers with high standards.
3. Intellectual stimulation - questions old assumptions, encourages others to think from different perspectives
4. Individualized consideration - considers individuals' unique needs and abilities
Transformational leaders are almost always the most effective type of leader. Confirmatory factor analyses have added construct validity to this deliniation of leadership behavior. It applies to all cultures and all levels of leadership.
I think of Bill Clinton and MLK when I think of a transformational leader. They inspere followers to trancend self-interest for the benefit of the group.
