| What college/university do you hate the most??? |
|
It could be a rival of your current/alma mater college or university, or one you've just always hated throughout your life.
As for me, I'd have to say the University of North Dakota, otherwise known as "Underwear Tech" or "The Upstate Normal School". The only university in the country where one of their official team colours is pink. YES, PINK!!! (They never wear pink on their uniforms, tho. But it is an official colour) My university (North Dakota State) had a huge rivalry with them in every sport, but after we (NDSU) moved to Division I two years ago, they decided they didn't want to play us in any sport anymore, thus ending the rivalry. They whined about how they wouldn't be on a level playing field (the babies). Even though other NDSU fans say that we should just forget about them, I won't be able to forget UND for a long time. They have a long history of being antagonistic towards NDSU, including trying to block our establishment of graduate programs, and more recently, trying to block our move to Division I. UND is still in Division II, by the way.
Sorry I rambled on like that, who's YOUR most hated???

J. PERSONAL ELECTRONIC DEVICES
1. Cell Phones, Pagers, Palm Pilots, or Other Wireless Devices that utilize cellular or wireless technology for the purpose of receiving or transmitting telephone calls, pager messages, e-mail, Internet, or any other electronic message may not be used on the campus of Pensacola Christian College. Students may have a standard cell telephone (without e-mail or Internet service), provided it remains in their automobile. Misuse of a cellular phone on campus may result in the student having to turn it in to the Residence Manager.
2. Personal Computer--Students may have a personal computer and printer to assist them with fulfilling their academic requirements, but they may not use them during class sessions. Also, computers may not be connected to Internet or e-mail services including wireless services. Students that own a computer will be held responsible for their computer as well as any files stored on their computer or medium played over their computer. Therefore, students should take every precaution to avoid others using their computer. Computers may not be used to play CD or DVD movies. The content of all files, CDs, or DVDs must conform to PCC policy and standards noted elsewhere in this manual. PCC reserves the right to check the computer files on any personal computer on campus if, in the opinion of the Administration, it is reported or suspected that said files or related medium may be in violation of the policies and standards of the College.

I went to University of Southern Indiana which is across town from UE. UE is mostly a school for rich, pretentious assholes. I have never met a person that went there that did not have a condescending attitude towards any other school south of Indianapolis.
A few years ago USI tried to get an engineering program and UE along with a couple other schools fought to keep it from happening. They were afraid that if a public school would get an engineering program they wouldn't be able to charge 20K+ for someone to come to UE.
I also hate their arrogant sports program. They have about 2000 students and they still try to have D1 program. Even though they are raped by almost every other team in their division they still refuse to drop down to D2 because it is beneath them.

Cornell thinks trauma is a necessary part of the learning process. It's built into their courses. A friend and I are trying to convince his wife (all three of us are alumni) that she should not talk up the school to their daughters.
Of course, the girls would be double-legacies, just like their mom. It's a different experience for us first-generationers.
On edit: Oh, gee, I forgot Patrick Henry! An evil institution abusing the name of a great patriot!

The student body probably leans conservative, but not monolithically so - I would guess it is not too far from an even split (the faculty outside of engineering and business is largely liberal). A progressive student of any flavor would be able to find a like-minded group of peers on campus, but should expect to see a fair amount of opposing viewpoints. Our latest upheaval was a design class that produced a display on campus linking gay marriage to a slippery-slope toward bestiality - most of the reaction was negative, but a disappointingly large number of people thought it was "just an attempt to foster discussion." Academically, it can be a very good school - smaller classes, more professor interaction, etc. Still, if you want diversity, a range of cultural opportunities, and a minimum of ranchland odors, then this may not be the ideal place...:)

She wanted to go to a Christian school and once she got there realized she was under total lockdown. No pants allowed, only skirts or dresses of acceptable length. They sensored the mail. They would cut out pictures that were "too revealing," like lotion ads, etc. I don't believe they are an accredited school either.

Also, Bob Jones U, "Liberty" U, all the Concordia colleges, and anywhere else that indoctrinates instead of teaches and has a student rulebook from the 1850's. At Concordia schools, they kick you out if you get pregnant and you're not married!

I was gonna say my most hated school was the University of MN, but after hearing your rant my hatred for the bison takes the cake now.
One of our school colors is pink because our state flower is the prarie rose, which is also pink.
As far as us whining about you moving to D1, and us not wanting to play you anymore, I do believe the Sioux kicked the Bison's ass around the football field for the last couple of seasons (Football is the Bison's best sport by the way).
"UND is still in D II, by the way" Are you suggesting that because NDSU is DI, they are better than UND?
Some real classy people down there at Farm U.

Can we get a president who just went to an average state school? Why does it have to always be Yale or a military academy? Heck even Kerry went to Yale. We need to put someone up from an "average Joe" school. Most Americans would connect with that better. The people with the 1500 + SAT's are failing us.

Louisiana State University
Bush spoke for the graduation ceremony earlier this year... lots of winks, nods, and ""you know what I mean." There are dem "furriners" dat do all dat science stuff, and dem football players dey call LSU "livestock." :grr:
The irony is, the University of New Orleans (UNO) is the most integrated school in the South.... well, New Orleans is not REALLY in the South; we're more of a Caribbean/Latin city-state.
Fuck LSU! and their "good ol' boy" network.

Now I love the town of Corvallis, but I hated teaching at that school: an insane budgeting system that required department chairs to negotiate their departmental budgets every quarter and wouldn't fund a beginning class in any language unless there were 28 students signed up. Faculty had no phones in their offices, just an extension of one of the department's two phones, so that only two faculty members in each department could be on the phone at a time.
Faculty couldn't use school office equipment to make copies for students unless they were copying their syllabus or their final exam. For all other handouts, you had to take a master to Kinko's and make the students buy copies.
There were way too many Reagan-worshipping ROTC students, and the Greek system was so strong that it sapped the strength out of all other extra-curricular activites. Imagine a 16,000-student school with one choir of about 40 students and a theater program that had to go off campus to cast its plays.
Large classes were the norm, and the students were so accustomed to being anonymous that they were surprised when I knew their names. Perhaps because of this, cheating was out of control.
I hated to leave Corvallis, a lovely, liberal town located in sight of both the Coast Range and the Cascades, but there are reasons that the school had trouble hanging on to faculty.
