No, no. Really. I'm a stay-home mom. I don't go to work.
I go everywhere ELSE on the planet, though.
And I do my "work" from my home office: writing crap that I hope to peddle to publishers of one sort or another; also, studying for my Idaho disability insurance license.

For the first time in a long time. Of course, the pay isn't that great, I work for repukes, and the morals of the place I work for are seriously questionable. I'd rather drive an hour to a better place.

| 6. Usually Around 50 Minutes |
|
Edited on Wed Nov-24-04 10:30 AM by CO Liberal
I live 45 miles from my office, and most of it is I-25. But accidents, traffic jams, or lousy weather can make the trip longer.
I remember one day in 1998 when a blizzard hit around 10:00 am, and they let us leave around 1:00. It took me four hours to get home, with the first five miles alone taking two hours.
Once it starts to snow, a lot of people in Colorado Springs forget how to drive....

|
I used to live 5 minutes from work.... one day it started snowing and they let us out at 3pm and I did not get home till 8pm. People were just locking up there cars leaving them in the middle of the highway because of so much traffic and walking home which made the problem even worse.

The subway, specifically, from the Upper West Side of Manhattan to Jackson Heights, Queens, then a bus, or a 20 minute walk.

the road, it depends. I do appraisals in three counties. I'll drive as far as 60 miles away, but I like to keep it close to home.

| 15. It's a three stage process. |
|
5 minutes to drive to the train station. 37 minutes on the train to the Loop. 12 minutes to walk from the terminal to work.
Sometimes I take a cab during the last stage which cuts it down to about 2 minutes.
So either 56 minutes or 46 minutes.

I only work 7 miles or so, but it can take up to 20 min to drive. Living beside the ocean, I find it very difficult to leave. It is just so peaceful. Reality eventually sets in and I realize someone has to pay the bills, so off to the office I go!

Good conversation or reading time. I don't love working in the city (wage tax, feel like rat in hole in the station) but reading for 30 minutes beats cursing at other drivers for 30 minutes.

It's a long walk from the bedroom to the study. Sometimes the traffic's bad, like when there are cats underfoot, and it takes sixteen seconds.

However, it can take up to an hour, because I commute across Lake Washington. I've altered my hours and that has helped somewhat.
