Back in April, I was at a DU gathering and I got a bunch of people saying, "Wow, you're 'populistmom'!!!" (I used to have another screen name.) It was completely odd and then another DUer said, "Everyone knows who you are!" While I wouldn't say that's necessarily true, it seemed like a lot of people did. I still have no idea why. :shrug:

DU keeps me informed to what is going on everywhere. Plus the personal opinions of people are interesting to read. Logining in to DU is one of the first things I do every morning.

In high school (a long distant memory for me) it was vitally, desperately important for survival (or rather it sure seemed that way) but now, I only care to discourse about this and that, connect with one anothers ideas in this fast paced 50,000 member forum.

1. Obviously, the ones who do substantive stuff IRL and tell us about it (Andy, Bev, Ida Briggs, etc.)

2. Those who post with ascerbic wit and humor.

3. People who are just plain here a lot, esp. in the Lounge.

Funny, too, it's different for each forum. You don't see the folks over in Voting Issues or Presidential Results over here hardly at all.

Anyway, if you KNOW you're popular on DU, how do you know? People can remember and read your threads without ever replying and telling you about it.
