| My "I hate shopping" vent |
|
I've never been a big shopper just for the fun of it, but lately I've come to despise it. I just went out in an attempt to purchase a new interview outfit. Uggh. I am tired of being treated as a criminal rather than a customer by stores. The first place I go to has the security tag through all 3 pieces of the suit. Thus, trying the garment on is impossible. I could of course take my chances, schlep the thing home, and return (under great scrutiny) if it doesn't fit. No thanks. Next store, find a suit in my size, head to the dressing room, only to discover the pants are a different size than the jacket. :grr: There isn't another one in the size. Both stores were generally a mess with long checkout lines (on a wednesday morning???) So now I'm back home hoping one of my old suits fits well enough for the interview tomorrow.
Stores of America, I should be your dream customer. Young, gainfully employed with significant disposable income, yet you make the experience so miserable I chose not to shop.
Added bonus. While I am trying things on I hear a customer berating an employee because she had abandoned a bunch of stuff (I saw the employee tending to the pile) in the dressing room and was now back for it. WTF. The women had left her coat there as well which the employee took to customer service. I thought that was very considerate, but the customer got rather snippy with the woman.
