http://www.elitestv.com/pub/2004/Dec/EEN41b97bd8ec815.htmlDr. Yefim R. Sheynkin, director of male infertility and microsurgery at the State University of New York, Stony Brook conducted a study that has found that men who balance their laptops on their laps risk infertility problems.
The combination of pressing their legs together, which constricts the scrotum, and the heat from the laptop, raises the regions temperature.
Sheynkin led a study of 29 healthy men ages 21-35 using laptops, atop their laps. The men wore casual clothes during the study and were seated in a temperature-controlled room.
Sheynkin said that it is not known whether the effects of the exposure would cause permanents damage, but the study recommended that men take the laptops off their laps to avoid the potential of “irreversible changes.”
Similar studies with men sleeping with electric blankets and heated waterbeds have shown a reduction of sperm count and subsequent production.
