http://www.informationweek.com/story/showArticle.jhtml?articleID=57300485 Norwegian browser builder Opera launched the first beta for the Linux version of its 8.0 edition Thursday, two weeks after it rolled out the Windows version.
Like the Windows edition, this version sports a simpler user interface and new features including improved RSS handling, automatic updates, and Fit-to-Window-Width, which reduces type size or reformats the page to fit the browser window.
The Linux 8.0 beta does not, however, include the speech recognition capabilities of the Windows version. That earlier beta can be operated with basic commands such as "Opera back" or "Opera scroll down," will read Web page text, and supports voice-enabled Web sites for such chores as shopping and booking travel arrangements.
