2. You don't have to venture into GD

to get into a flame war nowadays. They seem to be popping up here in the lounge with more frequency.

I just posted in GD for the first time in a long time the other day when the news of DU's press coverage came out. I didn't have too rough a time.

10. When it happens to me,

I just roll my eyes and think, jeeze, it must be hard being you, being so perfect and all. I have seen people attack newbies on spelling, which just seems wrong. It is hard enough to get up the courage to post on a contentious board like this one and then to get flamed for something trivial.

Shit! I got 2000 posts, have donated to DU twice, have never voted for any party except Dem... but I can't post in GD lest some 251 post count dweeb, without a star,hit call freeper alert!!!


(P.S. People think it's funny to call out people for their spelling errors, but I am actually a borderline dyslexic who had some serious stuttering problems as a child...so i take any attacks on the way I speak or write VERY pesonally...)

13. Calling out people on spelling and grammar

always seems like a cheap way to feel superior to others. "Look how much better educated/smarter I am than you!!!!!" Sometimes It's funny when it goes on between posters who obviously know each other, but otherwise it just seems rude.

Besides, people are typing so fast, with many distractions. I have two kids under four, so if my posts are coherent at all, it is a minor miracle.
