The pensacola News Journal is fairly centrist, it tends to lean to the right, but there are counterpoints, the opinion pages have writings from a dem and a rep, and has both mallard fillmore and Doonesbury

1. We have 2 local papers...

The Trenton Times is the "liberal" paper, a broad sheet with the left leaning op-ed page. and the Trentonian is the RW rag a tabloid that tries hard to be like the NY Post. For a time they were syndicating Man Coulter's columns. It wasn't always like that, the Trentonian used to be the blue collar paper of the city, hell it won a Pulitzer back in the 70's. Ever since my grandfather retired as the editor back in 90, it went to hell in a handbasket very quickly!

The Quad-City Times is the name of one of our local newspapers, and they carry Molly Ivins, Ellen Goodman, Leonard Pitts, as well as Krauthammer, and a guy named Navarette. They endorsed Kerry for president, Gluba for Representative from Iowa's first district, and Republican Jim Leach for second district Congressman. Recently there was a controversy about a teacher at a local school system reading a book entitled "The Misfits" to fifth and sixth graders. The book apparently featured a homosexual character, among others and a few parents were outraged. The school district placed a partial ban on the book and the QC Times came out very strongly against the censorship. It is a fairly liberal paper with a few conservative tendencies. Overall, they do a good job though.

17. Hi Bluzman! I'm originally from the Q-C myself.

The Quad Cities area also has another media distiction. It has more media per capita than anywhere else in the U.S.

I like the Times, owned by Lee Enterprises (which has also employed Tom Brokaw and Mark Twain during their careers and had a reporter who died with George Custer at the Battle of the Little Big Horn). They are also a growing chain of papers.

However, on the other side of the river, the Small newspaper chain that owns "The Daily Dispatch" and "The Argus" is about as right wing as they come. I speak from expereince, my wife worked for the chain. But all you have to do is read the papers to know.

nothing but crap. I have better things to spend my money on, although I once bought a car because of their want ads. It was online though and I didn't pay for the paper. Hey, in July we have a world class Blues Fest, c'mon back for it. It's always a good one. I'll be the drunk in the front row.

the regional paper would have to turn left to see adolph. Our local paper used to be called The Andrew County Democrat, it was bough by reptiles a couple of years back and the title was the first thing they changed.

When the publisher decides to override the editorial board's 5-2 decision to endorse Kerry, then no, it neither fair nor balanced.

22. The Philly Inquirer tries to see things fairly

At least the Editorial board does. They are center-left, but because the Bush misadministration is so far to the right, I find myself agreeing with the editorials much of the time. They also bend backwards to be fair in their endorsements.

Dick Polman, the political analyst for the Inquirer, is not very fair IMO. I often see RW spin, inaccuracies, interesting omissions, and a "the Dems are really in trouble!" angle in his articles. He never does an investigative piece on Bush. In fact, usually Bush is only put in a negative light when fellow Repukes disagree with him.

one newspaper has great columns such as "why Bill O'Reilly is the best journalist in America", while the other is part of the chain which includes The National Post.
