| Can I watch the Oscars on ABC.com, you think? |
|
Since we moved last September we haven't had cable TV - only XM radio - and I only get our local PBS station and NBC worth a damn on the TV. I grew up in the Los Angeles area and the only two things I really like to watch on TV are the Oscars and the Kentucky Derby (and the Preakness and the Belmont). I've lived on the east coast for 6 years and the Oscars is sort of a "staying in touch with my southern California roots" thing. Silly, but there you go.
I'm afraid of withdrawal this year! I wanna see the shallow fashion fest! Help!

| 1. Why don't I care about the Oscars this year? |
|
It's been a progressive thing. Dissipating with each passing year.
I used to be so into it when I was younger, but now I see it in a different light.
Dunno. It's such a political game. Those who should most be recognized never are.
It's a mixed thing when I see that stuff. I guess it's like an illusion I once had.

| 2. yeah, now I see almost every Oscar as a way to |

award someone who should have received it years ago. Like giving Sean Penn the Oscar last year when I'd have been very happy to see it go to Bill Murray. Sean Penn deserves an Oscar, but perhaps for any number of earlier performances.
It is a sham. But I so rarely watch anything anymore, aside from rented movies, that I kind of enjoy the spectacle once a year.
