| Is there anything more charming than cat barf? |
|
Especially when accompanied by bile and other gastrointestinal juices?

| 2. Yes! Watching a kitten hork (barf) for the first time. |
|
It's sad, because you know the poor thing is uncomfortable and bewildered. But it's also charming, not to mention hilarious. The kitten does that purely feline jump-back step after it's horked, then looks at what it left as if to say, "oh, no, no, that did NOT come out of ME . . . what the . . . "

I have a friend with two cats who belong to the frequent-horkers club. He used to live on the first floor of his apartment building, right at street level. Every winter he'd jump up in startlement at the sound of "skrrrr skrrr skrrr" only to find he was hearing the sound of his landlord shovelling the walk!

I'd rather be startled by that than have to hear the sound of horking.

| 6. Apparently it sounded exactly like horking |
|
so he jumped up and ran to get the paper towels, only to find no barf and the walk shovelled.

| 11. Pizza barf is always bad |
|
Even among adults. I managed to hork up some on a ferry from Wales to Ireland once. Moral of the story: If you're on a ferry (even a huge one) on the Irish Sea and have a jumpy stomach, no matter how hungry you think you are, AVOID THE PIZZA!!

I know that, though sometimes comical, cats have a practically non existent sense of humor and absolutely hate being laughed at. A while back we had a rather large turkey breast that, for whatever reason, stayed in the left-over section of the 'fridge a bit too long and I tossed it out to treat the cats (we always have several.) One rather large tom discovered it first and promptly decided it was his, alone, and that he'd best eat it all at once so he would not have to waste a lot of energy trying to guard it. He tried, I mean, REALLY tried--all the gulping and munching going on, you'd think he was big dog. Then he ate the same huge meal three more times. He frowned rather darkly at me-one of the few expressions a cat can actually manage, but I simply couldn't contain myself- it was enormously funny- and each time he disgorged and re-gobbled the same portion it got worse. Finally, at about the fourth re-eat, he admitted that he'd been a bit presumptuous and stopped at about half, swore a bit under his breath and stalked off, refusing to forgive my laughing at him for a couple of days.
So, charming? Not really, but certainly the highlight of my day!
