| someone is giving out my phone # and saying it is theirs HELP! |
|
I've had this phone # for over 4 years now and the person that had it before me is still saying it is their phone #. I found out where this person lives because I get so many calls looking for her. Even a bank called wanting to talk to her about the "loan she had applied for" if you can believe that.
I told the bank that this was not her phone # and I don't know why she keeps giving it out.
I found my husband on this site www.zabasearch.com with our phone # (or is it hers?!!) at her address which is a few blocks from where I live. I decided to go check it out and oh great a nice big flag hidden behind a tree now (before it was in the front of the driveway). Anyway, what should I do?
Should I contact this woman directly or call the sheriff. Today real did it when the lymphoma society charity called asking for her. They said she had given MY phone # to them as being her's. I told them to not bother looking for this fraud because she has lied to you and has no intention of giving a "donation".
God I am so upset about this. What can I or should I do about this? Perhaps my query should be, what would YOU do?
I AM REALLY SICK OF THIS!

| 2. Call the Sheriffs Dept. and/or Police Dept. fraud investigator. |

You may also want to call your DA. They all deal with identity fraud crimes.

| 3. Maybe she is just a space cadet. |

Old or something like that. I had some old people doing that. They even put my phone number in their church bulletin as theirs, ha! I just ignored their calls. What was I supposed to do?
Why bother with it at all? I mean, she probably doesn't even realize she's doing it. If you want to be nice you could contact her and mention it. But, I mean, if you contact her, just assume the best. "Hi, I just got a phone call from XXX for you and I seem to get a lot of them like that so I looked you up because I just wanted to let you know -- maybe you need to change your business cards or something?"
She probably doesn't even realize she's doing it.

| 4. Change your own phone number? |
|
And let the person who inherits THAT phone number deal with the mess?
The inconvenience of doing this will only last a few months and then ahhhhhhh, FREEDOM!

I'm thinking maybe the thing to do is change the damn #. It might be the easiest solution. I really don't need this added stress. Filing a report with the Sheriff is my only option if I care to report this mess.
I think she is a *ding* and yeah, I think she probably doesn't know :wtf: she is doing. She works at the local hospital as a nurse's aide or some crap job like that.
I can at least get the # changed for free. But then, I'll have to start all over again. I rarely get any calls anyway.
Thanks for the ideas!
