Our five week old kitten is still having trouble walking, he tries to walk, but stumbles around and falls a lot. Is something wrong with him?

You do have it mother don't you, five weeks is way too early to separate them. As for the stumbling no, it's normal, it'll be another week or two before it gets the concept down.

I kinda figured it was normal, my mom was worried and thought that he'd be walking by now.

He still has to practice a bit.. just as our children take a while to learn how to walk. Well.. my 2 yr old still falls over for no reason :)
If it continues as he gets older, then yes, I'd say that theres a problem, but for now, keep an eye on him and I'm sure he'll get the hang of it shortly.
