| Know anything about E&O or liability insurance for consultants? |
|
I'm an independent consultant (read: laid off, thanks *, and trying to make it on my own). Company I want to consult to requires me to carry some kind of professional liability insurance, which actually sounds quite sensible. I'm a management consultant, for lack of a better word. Anyone out there have a clue as to where I go to get this stuff---on an affordable basis in particular?
Thanks!

http://www.workingtoday.org/index.htmlIt's a NYC org for freelancers; I know they deal with health insurance--they'd probably have an idea of what you're talking about.

E & O stands for Errors and Omissions Insurance. It is rather unusal that they want a "management" consultant to have E & O as it usually is for people who design things like engineers and architects. You may be able to talk them out of it. It is worth a try since I presume you are not designing anything. If they balk ask to talk with the Company's risk management group to see exact;y what is needed. Be sure you explain to them exactly what you will be doing. When we nedd E & O we get it from Marsh Insurance whixh is a very large surety company nationwide. Hope this helps
