| Ok, I promise no more cry-like-a-baby threads: the final Zevon album |
|
In stores August 26, with a VH1 documentary made with Zevon's cooperation about its creation slated for August 24th. Enthusiastic review, with audio snippets, here: http://stacks.msnbc.com/news/928518.asp?cp1=1Here's what Rolling Stone says, if you can stand the popups: http://www.rollingstone.com/news/newsarticle.asp?nid=18193&cf=1495Why is it always the good ones who go too young?

Just heard WZ's remake of the Dylan song and I found myself choking back the tears.
I've been a fan of his since the first album.

that version is very poignant, particularly knowing that Warren will soon be no longer with us.

The first HLG single (Narrator/Gonna Have A Good Time Tonight) featured somebody named Bryan Cook doing an amusing job with the vocals, even though Warren was present for keyboard duties, so I was always a little unclear on what constitutes the personnel for this outfit. (REM - Stipe + Zevon + whoever.) If you can't find the HLG record, you ought to be able to get a hold of Sentimental Hygiene, where Warren is also backed by Buck, Mills and Berry. Underrated, some outstanding songs here.
