Actually, I have 3 "weight" tales:
* I had been to this surgeon a couple of years before, and then had to go back for a hernia repair. He looked at the chart and said almost angrily, "You've gained 20 pounds since the last time you were here!" Then like a little kid, said petulantly, "Well, I can sew you up to THIS SIZE, but if you gain more weight something's got to give and it's going to be MY STITCHES!"
* The regular doctor asked what the cardiologist had told me. I said, "He said I need to lose weight, but his nurse was standing there looking like she weighs 300 pounds." He said, "Well, there are some things we can't control..."
* The doctor said that ONE beer is like eating a whole LOAF OF BREAD. So that if one is doing 30 minutes of treadmill per day, it burns 170 calories, but if, say, one drinks 15 Lites, one is packing in 1,500 calories...

An old high school friend is a MD now. We went out to a family restaurant early one morning to catch up over breakfast. He nearly lost his mind when he heard me order the corned beef special. I think that drs. hate corned beef in general.

How can I say this without being flamed? hmmm.
Uh, doctor needs to deal with the fun of perimenopause (and the fact that one could gain weight during that time in life by walking past a bakery and taking a deep breath,) before doctor thinks it's appropriate to yell.
I fired the last doctor that yelled at me about my weight. My current doctor says she's more interested in finding a solution than yelling at me about it. I love her.

| 26. I agree...he should not have yelled at you......that was so wrong of him.. |
|
However, his aim was to get you to save your life by losing some weight...
And that is admirable.......
You do want to have a long healthy life, don't you?
Of course we are all going to die....but better later than sooner...
And MUCH better to die from old age......
Than from some awful stroke, or heart attack.......or something else due to excess weight.......
Just my two cents on it........Please take care of yourself......

For the opposite reason. I have to go again next week, just to make sure I didn't lose more weight. Right now I am traumatized but I did get meatballs on my Fazolis pasta and a lemon ice to get a few more calories. I don't know know how heavy you are, but unless you are 400+ pounds, you are probably better off overweight than underweight. Eat some fruits and vegtables every day and get a little exercise. Even if you're overweight, you'll be fine. Even I find myself saying that ironic. I didn't mean to interrupt your thread. I have my own issues.

I know that you've posted before on this subject. I know how hard this must be for you.
I hope that your nutritionist realizes you're doing the best you can. I love lemon ice (gelati, right?). If I ever meet you, the gelati's are on me.

Yes, it is tough. Many people don't understand that it is really hard to eat when you have no desire. It is hard to keep eating when you feel full. It is hard to eat your scheduled snack when you are still bloated from your last meal. That doesn't even take into account the emotional struggle. Thanks for the support and the gelati offer.
