| Some personal reflections on the bombing of Smurf village. |

I saw an online European news report about the TV spot, and to be honest, the whole thing looked a little silly. It almost made me laugh. "Who could possibly be impacted by that?" I thought. "That's the fakest thing ever."
But then I thought, what if that happened here in America? What if someone produced a TV spot about the evils of gang violence where Snoopy gets killed by a richochet while sleeping on his doghouse, or Linus and Charlie Brown get gunned down in a drive by while walking to school? I think that would make me pretty upset, personally. I mean, who could hurt Snoopy?
Thinking about it that way helped me put things in perspective. I guess it's only funny when it happens to other countries' cartoon characters.

| 3. They were created by a Belgian. |

As I learned, the Smurfs and Tintin are points of national pride for the Belgians.
