| Know any cities or towns with odd or funny names? (Radio topic Friday...) |
|
I got to thinking about this because we have a Boring, Oregon. Apparently, it was named after somewith the last name of Boring.
We also have a Halfway, Oregon, which was legally changed to Halfway.com during the technological run-up a few years ago. I think they've changed back now.
Senator Harry Reid is from some small town in Nevada with 600 people and a funny name. (I read it earlier but lost the link...)
How about you? Are you from a city or town with an odd or funny name?
Tell me about it. I'll use it on my radio show recorded on Friday and heard on the Internet on Monday.
Thanks so much!

| 3. Harry Reid is from Searchlight, Nevada |
|
Gad, if 600 people live there then 580 of them must be hiding behind the dirt hills. I drove past the place hundreds of times before finding out Reid was from there. I was astonished, to say the least. Searchlight is so tiny I frequently wouldn't even see it while driving at night from Las Vegas to Laughlin, or back, and it's smack off the side of the road.
