For those with Caller ID.... |
|
When your phone rings and it says:
"Unknown name, unknown number" or "Unknown name" followed by an 800 number or "Unknown name" followed by 000
Do you even answer it or just let it go to the machine?

1. Let it go to the machine. That's the purpose of caller ID. |

3. I don't have caller ID - I screen all my calls |
|
I never pick up the phone - as a matter of fact, I leave the ringer off and let every call go to the machine. Those who know me know this and when I meet new people and give them my number, I tell them to speak to the machine and let me know who it is and I'll pick up.
I save myself a lot of aggravation that way and none of my friends or relatives mind announcing themselves.

4. Let it go, most of the time they hang up on the machine... |
|
which usually means Telemarketer.

99% of the time they don't leave a message. One of our caller ID boxes has a button you can hit that tells them you don't accept this kind of call. When I'm near that phone, I hit that button. It makes me feel sooooooooo good!
We also get Out of Area a lot instead of Unknown Name.

6. If I don't know the party calling or it is an unknown #, I don't pickup |
|
If it is important they will leave a message. If not  who cares.

8. Let it go, of course. If it's important, they'll leave a message. |
|
If it's a telemarketer, they won't.
End of story.

I'm not a fan of talking on the phone anyway. I love Caller ID.

11. I answer "Unknown Family" |
|
and 90% of those calling hang up ...
although a few times it is my sister who can't remember my home phone number, calls information and has them put it through to me (she retired from Ameritech/SBC and gets free phone usage rest of her life so the information calls and charges never apply to her). She laughed the first time and asked why I answer it that way.

12. If I'm in the mood, I'll pick up and answer in senseless gibberish..that |
|
usually keeps them from calling back real soon.
