My brother just found out his stepdaughter was molested by her former

stepfather, the former stepfather was a police officer..he committed suicide a couple of days after the allegations were made. The press has ignored the story completely..his obit mentions he had befriended the bush family. I wonder if the press will ever cover this?

i've seen it happen where people assume the victim is eager to talk/ get vengance whatever, people sort of project their desired outcome on the situation forgetting the victim has been tramautised. and sometimes a person just wants to put it past them.

This is horrible. I feel bad for your brother's step daughter. I've never had anything that bad happen to me, so I don't even want to think about it. I hope she recovers.

How old is she? How old was she when he did this?

Forgive me for asking if that is too intrusive.

I have a very young daughter. We are - very unfortunately - caught up in the legal system concerning some things a neighbor said and tried to do with her. Long story. But if you would like to PM me about this, I'll do my best to share from our experience, if it is relevant to your brother's situation.

As for the press and the Bush family angle - that is the least important thing for family to worry about at this point, I think. Please understand my reaction to this is personal, though, I don't mean to come across as attacking you for the points you make in your original post.

My daughter is six. And I am sure what she experienced pales in comparison to your brother's step-daughter's horror.

My thoughts and prayers are with him and especially with her. Tell your brother to look up the closest Child Advocacy Center. They can help, if he is interested in information and guidance on how to help his stepdaughter rebuild her life and her spirit.
