| Mortensen Defends Bush Criticism |
|
http://www.imdb.com/news/wenn/2005-12-15/#celeb6Mortensen Defends Bush CriticismThe Lord Of The Rings star Viggo Mortensen refuses to apologize for his recent attack on President George W. Bush - maintaining the political leader is a "beast." The outspoken actor hit out at Bush after his controversial handling of Hurricane Katrina, but also disagrees with the President's Iraq policies, gossip site The Scoop reports. He fumes, []b"I'm not anti-Bush; I'm anti-Bush behavior. In other words, I'm against cheating, greed, cruelty, racism, imperialism, religious fundamentalism, treason, and the seemingly limitless capacity for hypocrisy shown by Bush and his administration. Cindy Sheehan (peace activist whose son was killed in Iraq) and how badly Katrina was bungled are two shots to the heart. I hope the beast does fall down soon.Anti-Bush and gorgerous to boot. He should have had a nomination for "A History of Violence" (Ed Harris too)

You'll like Viggo even more. He offers some intelligent comments about Tolkien & the film. And you will find that the other cast members liked & respected him. The stunties (stuntmen & stuntwomen) loved him. Even the horses were fans!

He made anti-war T-Shirts by hand and wore them on TV during interviews BEFORE the Iraq war even started.

Seriously...it's just as well that I'm not likely to make it to go see Brokeback Mountain, because old Viggo, here, is close enough to turning me gay just by virtue of his character.
Okay, so he's a stunning physical specimen, too -- kind of odd-looking, really, but, hey, it works.
I need to go look at photos of my favorite girl now, just to regain my self... :D

If this were real journalism, the headline would read "Mortensen's anti-Bush statements resonate with the mainstream".

Aweful movie - especially since in essence it was a remake (in the same vein on how Never Say Never Again was a remake of Thunderball)

This was an earlier one, like in 1989 or 1990. I think it was Texas Chainsaw Massacre Three - Leatherface or something like that.
By the way, the one you're talking about was truly awful.

...that was Viggo, a very young Viggo. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0099994/ After a little more investigation, you are right, MM and RZ were in a Texas Chainsaw Massacre, only the 1994 version: Return of the Texas Chainsaw Massacre. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0110978/

I'm so far gone for him it isn't funny. Where's that swooning smilie when you need it?? Visit http://www.percevalpress.com/home.html?-session=pp_sc:9CC43A88DC7959B4F9AA725C1AEB5EEDI ordered the book last year called Miyelo. It's a photo essay of the Ghost Dance taken at Pine Ridge Reservation shortly after Hidalgo finished shooting up there. Wonderful commentary and stories are intertwined with the images taken with a single roll of film. Sigh...

He is such an incredibly talented man. He speaks 4 languages (I think), writes poetry, is a photographer, an artist, a musician and actor, he rides horses, is thoughtful and politically minded.
This is a man you can actually have a conversation with!
*sigh* If someone tells me he rides a motorcycle, I'm think I'll to move to LA and stalk him!

|
after filming was over, because she was so brokenhearted at parting with the horse! That is one seriously cool thing to do - he bought the horse and quietly presented it to her after the shoot was over!
(The beautiful white horse that Arwen "rides" fleeing the Black Riders - all the actual riding scenes were the stuntwoman, not Liv Tyler. She fell in love with that horse, and he with her, and they were both desolated at being parted from one another. Viggo BOUGHT the damn thing for her!)
